Odd Looking Bunnies

Deb & Freckles:

We were taking a walk the other day down by the creek and happened to pass by these odd looking bunnies out for a swim. Look ma, no ears!

Time to Go

Deb:

Freckles and Cadbury jumped inside the ottoman when I took off the lid on one side. They explored a bit and then jumped out.

They were having such fun together that I hated to be the bearer of bad news. It was time for Cadbury to head for home. Luckily he didn't have much to pack. We drove him to the airport and waved goodbye as he flew away to his home in Texas.

It's a Volcano!

Freckles:

The cave in the missing bush was a lot of fun to explore and I was so happy that Cadbury had helped me to find it! We rested and ate some lettuce, exhausted from our adventure so far. While we munched, Cadbury came up with another great idea.

"Mmmf, I think we should check out your new boulder," he said.

"Crunch, sounds like a good idea," I replied.

And we did.

Just as we arrived at the side of the boulder, the high-voiced one lifted the top right off of it and flipped it over. We quickly jumped up to see what it looked like. Hmmmm, it looks somewhat like a volcano!

After we'd jumped down, the high-voiced one took the whole top off! We jumped again--this time into the very bowl of the volcano itself!

Exploration

Deb:

Freckles and Cadbury explored the living room and found the old coffee table which I had not yet taken to the Goodwill. The huge drawer in the table held numerous pictures of holidays, birthdays, graduations, etc. and I hadn't had time to go through them yet. Freckles quickly discovered that the drawer was missing (she doesn't miss a thing!) I had removed the drawer in order to separate the pictures into categories. The hole it left looked like a giant cave to Freckles and Cadbury and the started to explore it!

Cadbury's Idea

Freckles:

Cadbury had whispered to me the most amazing news! He had seen something that might be my missing bush!

I couldn't wait to find out, so we set off to explore in the direction he'd indicated. Sure enough, there it sat off in a corner -- my missing bush. However, I quickly realized that something was missing from the middle of my missing bush!

Freckles and Cadbury

Deb:

What a sweet bun Cadbury is! He and Freckles spent a good part of his visit catching up on all the news Cadbury was able to bring. They spent a lot of time just sitting nose to nose gossiping.

Freckles did take some time out to show him her big computer box home and he ran in and out and all around it. Then, he jumped on top. What fun they had together.

Notes from Cadbury's Visit

Freckles:

The first thing Cadbury and I did was catch up on the gossip from all of our friends that he had been visiting. I hadn't seen him since the Bunny Benefit Bash when he rocked the house with his electric guitar! We had a lot of catching up to do.

After we'd talked ourselves out and laughed ourselves silly, I showed Cadbury my great cave that I'd been remodeling. I could tell that he was impressed with the renovations that I'd made.
He checked out the inside. Then, he checked out the outside. Then, he climbed up on top!
From the top of my cave he was able to survey the entire Other World, but his eyes quickly fell on the new object that has so annoyed me.
"What is that huge boulder doing in the middle of your world?" he asked.
I sighed deeply and filled him in on what had been happening with the missing bush and the appearance of the boulder.
After I'd finished, Cadbury thought a moment, and then he said, "I just saw something that gave me a great idea!"
He hopped down from the cave and whispered the most astonishing news I'd heard in quite some time!

Thanks for Visiting, Cadbury!

We put Cadbury on the airplane and he is winging his way back to Houston, Texas to his family. We had a great visit with him, and Freckles is feeling sad that he had to leave so soon. She's been chewing on a few pieces of paper, but her heart isn't really in it.

We'll be posting all the details and pictures as soon as we've had time to download them!

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

It was a dark and stormy night ...

it really was! We had quite a thunderstorm last night. Thunder growls surrounded the house and lightning flashed from sky to horizon. And, in the middle of it all we heard a knock at the door.

We looked at each other to see which of us was brave enough to answer. Dare we open the door? In those spooky movies everyone is always stupid enough to open the door and let the monsters in. Would this be our fate? With a deep breath, we both walked and hopped across the room. Deb grabbed the door handle, turned the knob, pulled open the door and ...

Cadbury hopped into the room! He'd come from the airport after a long flight from across the globe where he'd been visiting the Furrybutts! (With his markings doesn't he look like Freckles's brother?!)

SHHHHHHH! He's resting right now after his whirlwind adventure visiting lots of friends.
The Bunns over at A Houseful of Rabbits broke Cadbury out of the "spa" where he'd been left while his family was on vacation. As soon as the sleepy little bun wakes up, Freckles plans to catch up on all the latest news and then he'll have to return home. His family is back from vacation now and will be wondering what has happened to him.

Dreams and Action

Freckles:

In my little cave I napped and dreamed about how I could show my extreme disapproval of the new boulder. This whole not being able to talk to the humans is sometimes a pain. My actions have to speak for my thoughts. Well, I would show that high-voiced one (who I knew had to be behind this sinister plot) how much I hated that stinky rock!

Suddenly, the idea came to me! I left the cave and rushed to the other side of the Other World.

Acceptance

Deb:

Freckles spent some time hopping around the ottoman and checking it out. Every so often she'd poke the side. I watched carefully to see that she didn't bite it. I didn't think she would, but you just never know with a bun -- they are known for surprising us humans.

After her survey of the new object, she hurried over to her little bunny condo and rested inside, chewing on a subscription insert from Consumer Reports. She probably needed to think over what she had just seen.

All of my worries about Freckles objecting to the new furniture had been for naught.

Planned Disapproval

Freckles:

The giant boulder smelled funny.

It was big and bulky and unyielding (I'd poked it with my nose -- no give at all!)
I hopped around the perimeter. There wasn't a single shelf carved out of the rock. How was I going to hide in this thing?

I decided it was time to show my disapproval. First, I squeezed myself into my cave to come up with a plan. Chewing on a delightful piece of treat renewed my energy and increased my concentration.

Welcome and Acceptance?

Deb:

I'd done it now.

My son and husband carried the beautiful new storage ottoman/ coffee table into the living room and placed it in front of the couch. Freckles watched them with ears at full alert and narrowed eyes. She rushed over as though welcoming a new friend. However, one sniff and she backed up and stared.

This was going to take some work. How do you bond a bunny and a piece of furniture?

I was sure that with a little time Freckles would forget about the old table and come to accept the new one.
