A Short Break to Get Healthy!

Freckles & Deb:

We are taking a short (1 or 2 day) break in our story because Deb is sick and Freckles doesn't type so fast. We promise to continue as soon as we can.

In the meantime, why don't you visit some of the fun new places we've added to our Web Sites list. There are some great videos there. Be sure to check out the music video “Bunny!! Elvira” by the sister duo Beliss.

You can also visit some of our many friends listed under Blogs of Interest. We’ve made lots of new friends this year and love to visit their blogs frequently to keep up!

If you are really bored and looking for something to do, check out Freckles’ new BunSpace page

or Deb’s MySpace Page.

See you in a day or two.

Freckles Skids and Dances

Deb:

While I prepared a salad for Freckles from the greens and carrots I'd retrieved from the refrigerator, I kept one eye on the family room. She usually came running as soon as she heard that plastic bag rustling, so I expected her any moment. Sure enough, I saw her jump to her feet and charge towards the kitchen. In her haste, Freckles skidded on the floor and slid directly in front of me. She danced around my feet, impatiently waiting for her dinner.

Seeking Nourishment

Freckles

From where I was sitting in the Sky Place I couldn’t see what was causing the rustling sound in the Slippery Ground Land, even when I stretched my neck as far as it would go. But, I knew that I usually heard the sound before scrumptious food was delivered to me.

Something growled. I jumped in the air and searched the area all around me searching for the source of the growling. When it growled again, I realized that it was my own stomach! I had to have nourishment or I might die here, alone in the Sky Place.

I hopped as fast as I could into the Slippery Ground Land, stopping with a short skid directly in front of the high-voiced one. I searched the ground around me to see if I could locate the fantastic smell that floated in the air.

Hungry Freckles

Deb:

Freckles busily tossed her new twine ball around the family room. It occurred to me that she hadn’t eaten for quite awhile. She must be famished! I opened the refrigerator door and reached into the produce drawer. Pulling out a sack, I dumped its contents onto the counter and started preparing a plate for Freckles.

A Rustling Sound

Freckles:

I was having a great time flinging my, I mean, Nice Guy's ball around the Sky Place. I knew I should stop and return the ball to Nice Guy, but I just couldn't bring myself to quit tossing the jingly thing. I had helpfully removed the annoying part that had whapped me in my face by chewing it up, so there wasn't any danger of Nice Guy being injured by it.
I was just about to take one last fling, when I heard a sound above the jingling. It was a rustling sound that I'd heard many times before. It was coming from the Slippery Ground Land. I glanced up from the ball and peered into the Slippery Ground Land to see if I could catch a glimpse of what was causing the sound.

The Tag Must Not Live!

Deb:

After Freckles threw the ball around a few times, she dropped it and stared at it. I wasn't sure if she enjoyed the jingling sound it made, but she seemed to be wondering why it only jingled when she played with it.

She snatched the paper tag that was attached to the ball with one of those clear plastic loops. Chewing as fast as she could, she made fast work of the tag. Evidently Freckles prefers her twine balls without labels!

A Rectangular Annoyance

Freckles:

I flung the ball around a few more times, but a rectangular thing kept whapping me in the face. It was attached to the ball with a stiff bit of string. This was no good and it sure was annoying! I couldn’t return the ball to Nice Guy and have it whap him everytime he flings it.

I decided that I would remove the rectangular thing. The best way I knew how to get rid of something was to chew it up. So, I started with one end and worked my way through.

Freckles Plays

Deb:

Freckles chased the jingling twine ball into the family room. When it landed under a chair, she charged right in ready to attack. Picking up the ball in her teeth, she shook it and tossed it to the side. She grabbed it again and flung it to the other side. The jingling continued throughout.

I looked at my son and we laughed. Freckles was playing! She’s never been a big lover of toys, turning up her nose at every toy we've put in front of her. However, this ball seemed to fascinate her.

Freckles & the Jingling Thing

Freckles:

The brown round thing that had fallen out of the sack Nice Guy dropped bounced right past me and rolled into the Sky Place. I chased after it to see where it landed and to return it to Nice Guy. It jingled as it bounced, stopping when it reached one of the bushes.

I climbed under the bush and snatched it up in my teeth. It continued its jingling as I grasped hold of it and then lost my grip. Several times my hold slipped. Out of frustration I flung it around to show it who was the boss.

Suddenly I realized that this flinging of the jingling thing was kind of fun. Maybe I'd fling it a few more times before returning it to Nice Guy!

Nice Guy's Present

Deb:

I walked down the hall to welcome my son who was standing in the living room. He asked, "Where's Freckles?"

I pointed to the kitchen.

When he turned, he shook the sack he held in his hand. "I've got a present for her. Hope she likes it!"

He entered the kitchen just as Freckles flew around the corner and crashed into his legs. As he dropped the sack he was holding, a small twine ball came rolling out of it and bounced past Freckles into the family room.

Collision!

Freckles:
Standing in the Slippery Ground Land, I listened carefully to the sound of the jingling jingle. Then I heard a sound that thrilled me to my toes! The sound of Nice Guy's voice filled the air and it was coming closer. I knew he must be heading in my direction. I had to warn him about the slippery floor! I jumped into the air and shot toward the portal.

Suddenly Nice Guy was in front of me. I couldn't stop! We were on a collision course! The look of surprise on Nice Guy's face was the last thing I saw before SMASH -- I slid with my feet flying right into his legs!

The sack that Nice Guy held fell to the floor and a round, brown object rolled out, making a jingling sound as it bounced past me into the Sky Place!

Deb Hears the Jingling Too!

Deb:

Freckles seemed to be doing fine on her own, hiding in the skinny space behind the safety gate. I guess she felt secure since she could see through the holes and maybe she even thought we couldn't see her! Because all was well, I went down the hall into the bedroom to do some cleaning. I did a little dusting and vacumning, however when I turned off the vacumn cleaner, I heard a jingling sound coming from the living room. My goodness, I thought, Santa's either very early or a couple of months late! I headed down the hall to find out just who could be making that sound.

A Jingling Jingle Sound

Freckles:

I had been inside the secret cave peeking out through the holes for a good long time when I decided I needed to stretch my legs and locate some nourishment. Hopping through the portal into the 1st Unexplored Territory (which had now been somewhat explored, so I decided to call it Slippery Ground Land), I was careful not to go too fast and slide like I had before. There must be some food around here someplace. While I sniffed the air for some slight odor that would interest me, I heard a jingling jingle sound. Now what in this world could that be?

Safety in an Unsecured Room

Deb:

Occasionally we'd used a child safety gate across the doorway to make sure that Freckles doesn't enter an area we hadn't yet bunny-proofed. Because she never came into the kitchen, dining room, or family room, we'd given up installing the gate. It now leaned against the wall next to the doorway. The family room being a place where I have NOT covered cords or made sure anything chewable was safe and inexpensive, I carefully watched Freckles to make sure she didn't get near the computer cords.

When she awoke from her nap, she didn't notice the cords or the books on the bottom shelf of the bookcase. The object that drew her attention was the safety gate itself. She scurried right over and hopped behind it, safely hidden from everyone's view!

Where's Freckles?

Freckles:

After my little nap (in which no terrible monsters appeared), I stood, stretched, and surveyed the 2nd Unexplored Territory. I decided to call this area the Sky Place. All around me I could see blue sky! No clouds, just the light blue of a lazy summer sky touching the horizon.

A white object near the entrance portal caught my eye. It had a number of round holes covering its surface and looked like a chunk of fence that leaned against the wall. I watched for a moment and when I sensed no danger, I hopped over to check it out.

I examined the front and back, but could find no obstacles to my newly-formed plan. This white fence would make a perfect hiding place! I could safely watch through the holes for any danger. A monster could never squeeze through those holes! I quickly took refuge in my new cave.

Freckles Meets the Family Room

Deb:

We’d recently had a number of people over to dinner and played board games afterwards. There were two folding tables still set up in the family room, so when Freckles ran into the room, she raced around the multitude of legs that were blocking her path. She seemed to be enjoying herself as she dashed through the openings, not a single hair touching the metal poles. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Finally, she must have exhausted herself, because she plopped down and relaxed underneath one of the tables.

The Skinny Tree Forest

Freckles:

I surveyed my strange surroundings. Where was I now? There were so many trees! Before me stood a wonderous forest of skinny tree trunks and low brush that made it easy for me to skirt around the obstacles and zip from one tree to another. Any terrible monsters that had been following me would surely have been confused by my sharp speedy moves. Besides, terrible monsters are usually big and wouldn’t be able to follow my swift path.

Exhausted from all that running, I found a spot among the skinny trees and rested. I still remained alert for any dangers that might spring from the bushes, but the soft ground beneath me eased my tired body.

Freckles Makes a Break for It

Deb:

As I watched Freckles search the room from her hiding place under the table, I drizzled my dressing on the salad and tossed. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye I saw Freckles make a run for it. She shot out from under the table and practically flew into the family room through the doorway that connected the two rooms.

Unexplored Territory II

Freckles:

I wasn’t sure exactly what had made that bellowing sound, but it was so close that I became concerned that I wasn’t safe under the tree. Being new to the Unexplored Territory, I couldn’t be sure what areas were safe. Maybe the trees here bellow! Ohhhhhh noooooo! I decided I should try to find another spot to hide.

Glancing quickly in all directions, I shot out from under the tree and found myself standing in front of another portal! I could see this was the entrance to another Unexplored Territory! Should I travel this far from my Home Place? Did I really have a choice? Before the bellowing could begin again, I jumped through the entrance into the new land.

The Startling Blender

Deb:

Whoops! As I ran the blender to mix the dressing, Freckles jumped and turned. I must have startled her. Her head flew from side to side as she examined the area under the table in an attempt to zero in on the sound of the blender. I have to admit that my blender does have a rather large roar. I wonder what Freckles thought she was hearing.

Who (or What) Bellowed?

Freckles:

RRRRRRRRRRRoar!
There was a dreadful bellow that shook the ground and forced me to my feet. I searched frantically in all directions, but I didn’t see anything that looked bellow-like. Calm and quiet now surrounded the area around the tree. I heard the high-voiced one moving in the clearing beyond the tree. Surely the sound couldn’t have come from it. I had never heard it bellow before.
